£21 Million Goalkeeper Suggests Potential Arsenal Transfer in 2025
Arsenal had previously reached an agreement with a promising goalkeeper last summer, but while the move didn’t materialize then, it could potentially happen this year instead.
Joan Garcia, the 23-year-old Spanish shot-stopper currently playing for Espanyol, has provided an update on his future. He confirmed Arsenal’s interest from last summer and hinted at the possibility of leaving his current club this year.
“There was significant interest last summer, especially from Arsenal, but I remained here and have been fully focused on this season,” Garcia told the Spanish press. “We’re all aware of the situation, not just mine but the club’s as well, and anything could happen. But the future will reveal itself, and we’ll address it when the time comes.”
Garcia is considered one of La Liga’s top goalkeeping talents after another impressive season. He would likely serve as an excellent backup to David Raya at Arsenal. His current release clause stands at around £21 million, which could be viewed as a bargain given his potential.
Football analyst Ben Mattinson praised Garcia’s abilities: “García is an incredibly athletic goalkeeper. His powerful and springy legs allow him to generate more force to reach the ball. He demonstrates good flexibility, agility, and proactiveness, enabling him to be an alert shot-stopper in the box and recover quickly to make double saves.”
As Arsenal prepares for a crucial Champions League semi-final against PSG, the club’s sporting director Andrea Berta is already planning for the summer transfer window. Reports suggest Arsenal is in the market for a new second-choice goalkeeper, with Garcia emerging as a prime target once again.
