£60 Million Tottenham Player Expresses Desire to Leave
According to reports, Tottenham striker Richarlison has informed friends of his intention to leave the club. The Brazilian international, who joined Spurs from Everton for £60 million in 2022, is said to have made up his mind about departing.
Clubs in Saudi Arabia’s Pro League have previously expressed interest in bringing Richarlison to the Middle East. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, the forward has largely failed to live up to his hefty price tag during his time in North London.
Richarlison enjoyed a strong run of form under manager Ange Postecoglou last season, but injuries have hampered his progress in the current campaign. For Brazil’s national team, however, he has been a consistent goalscorer.
Former player Micah Richards has described Richarlison as “underrated”, praising his ability to play as a traditional number 9 striker. However, it appears the 26-year-old is now keen to seek a new challenge away from Tottenham.
His potential departure could increase Spurs’ need to bring in attacking reinforcements this January transfer window. The club have already missed out on PSG forward Randal Kolo Muani, who joined Juventus on loan, but have been offered Lyon star Rayan Cherki as a potential £25 million option.
With Tottenham struggling for form under Postecoglou recently, the potential loss of Richarlison may add to the pressure on the Australian manager. The club sit 14th in the Premier League after losing 4 of their last 5 matches.
