AC Milan and Manchester City are scheduled to meet today to discuss the potential transfer of midfielder Tijjani Reijnders. While a deal is possible, the Premier League champions are eager to conclude negotiations swiftly.
Reports suggest that the clubs will engage in face-to-face negotiations this afternoon. It`s widely known that Pep Guardiola has identified Reijnders as a key target to strengthen his squad for the upcoming season, putting City ahead of Real Madrid and Barcelona in the race for his signature.
Manchester City is particularly keen to secure Reijnders in time for him to participate in the Club World Cup in the United States, scheduled for mid-June.
Milan Holds Strong Position in Negotiations
AC Milan, however, is in no rush to complete the transfer. The club is aware of its advantageous position, given that Reijnders recently extended his contract until June 2030.
While Milan seems to acknowledge that a sale is likely, they are determined to secure a substantial fee. The Italian club is reportedly seeking a minimum of €70 million for the Dutch midfielder.
Meanwhile, off the field, Milan is making progress in other areas. The club is set to meet with new coach Max Allegri today to finalize a three-year contract.
The potential sale of Reijnders would represent a significant profit for Milan, who acquired him from AZ Alkmaar in 2023 for €20.5 million plus bonuses.
Reijnders has been a key player for Milan this season, contributing 15 goals and 5 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions.
