AC Milan has officially announced the end of their collaboration with Sergio Conceicao after a brief six-month tenure. Simultaneously, the club has confirmed that Massimiliano Allegri has signed a new contract to return as head coach.
Conceicao, who took over from Paulo Fonseca on December 30 with a contract until June 2026, had a clause in his agreement allowing Milan to terminate it in June 2025 without additional compensation. The club has chosen to activate this clause, making the formal announcement on their official website.
In a statement, AC Milan expressed gratitude to Conceicao and his staff for their dedication and professionalism during their time leading the first team. The club acknowledged Conceicao`s contribution in securing the 50th trophy in Milan`s history and wished him well for the future.
During his short stint, Conceicao led Milan to victory in the Supercoppa Italiana, staging a remarkable comeback from 2-0 down to defeat Inter 3-2 in Saudi Arabia. However, the team`s performance declined afterwards, losing the Coppa Italia Final to Bologna and finishing eighth in Serie A, failing to qualify for European competitions.
Allegri has been selected as Conceicao`s replacement, signing a two-year contract with an option for a third season. This marks Allegri`s return to San Siro after more than a decade since his previous tenure with the club. An official announcement welcoming Allegri back is expected to be released soon.
This coaching change signals AC Milan`s intent to revitalize their team and pursue success in both domestic and international competitions in the coming seasons.
