According to reports from Italy, AC Milan is contemplating a surprising move for free agent Sergio Reguilon. The player`s representatives have allegedly reached out to the Rossoneri, hoping to convince them to sign the experienced defender to enhance their squad depth.
Italian media outlet CalcioMercato suggests that Stefano Pioli`s side may not be finished in the transfer market, despite the window closing yesterday evening. While negotiations are not currently underway, a potential deal cannot be ruled out if Pioli requests additional defensive reinforcement from the club`s management.
Reguilon`s Recent Career
Sergio Reguilon, 28, has become something of a journeyman in recent years, playing for six different clubs in the last six seasons. The Spanish left-back began his career at Real Madrid before enjoying a successful loan spell with Sevilla in 2019-20, where he won the Europa League.
Following his time in Seville, Reguilon joined Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2020. His stint in North London was mixed, featuring 67 times across all competitions in two seasons. Subsequently, he spent time on loan at Atlético Madrid, Manchester United, and Brentford during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 campaigns.
Reguilon returned to Spurs last season but made only six appearances before departing the club as a free agent when his contract expired this summer. Now, AC Milan could offer the Spaniard a new opportunity to showcase his talents in Serie A.
As Milan looks to strengthen their squad for domestic and European competitions, the potential addition of Reguilon could provide valuable experience and depth to their defensive options. However, it remains to be seen whether the club will pursue this opportunity or explore other alternatives in the free agent market.
