AC Milan President Paolo Scaroni has provided the first glimpse into the club`s plans for their new stadium, emphasizing enhanced fan experience and modern amenities. The announcement comes after the Milan City Council approved the sale of the San Siro area, paving the way for AC Milan and Inter Milan to proceed with their new stadium project.
Scaroni expressed his satisfaction with the progress, stating, “We have finally completed the crucial first step. It took many years, perhaps too many, but I`ve been involved throughout the process.” He emphasized that the new stadium will be a state-of-the-art facility, active daily and comparable to those in major European cities.
One of the key improvements highlighted by Scaroni is the proximity of fans to the pitch. “San Siro, despite its age, offers excellent views of the game. In the new stadium, the experience will be even better. Fans will be closer to the action, and the stadium`s design will be more vertical, enhancing the overall viewing experience,” he explained.
While official renderings of the new stadium are yet to be released, it is anticipated that the jointly-owned arena will have a capacity of 71,500 seats. Construction is expected to commence in 2027, marking a new era for both AC Milan and Inter Milan.
This development represents a significant step forward in modernizing Italian football infrastructure and aligning it with top European standards. The new stadium promises not only to improve the match-day experience for fans but also to provide a multi-functional venue that will be active throughout the year, potentially boosting the clubs` revenues and enhancing their competitiveness on the global stage.
