According to Italian media reports, AC Milan is setting its sights on Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP. The Rossoneri are reportedly in a position to meet Sporting`s asking price, thanks to substantial income from recent player transfers.
La Gazzetta dello Sport and SportMediaset indicate that Gyokeres has become Milan`s top priority for the upcoming transfer window. The club`s sporting director, Igli Tare, recently confirmed Milan`s interest in acquiring a new center-forward, with Gyokeres apparently fitting the bill perfectly.
While Gyokeres has a €100 million release clause, his agent has suggested that Sporting would be willing to negotiate a deal for around €70 million this summer. Milan`s financial capability to pursue such a transfer has been bolstered by several outgoing transfers, including:
- Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City
- Malick Thiaw and Alvaro Morata`s potential moves to Como (expected to bring in €40 million)
- Theo Hernandez`s rumored transfer to Al-Hilal (approximately €30 million)
These sales, along with others, could provide Milan with a transfer budget of up to €144 million, putting them in a strong position to negotiate for Gyokeres. However, competition for the 27-year-old striker remains fierce, with Arsenal and Manchester United also expressing interest and potentially offering higher wages.
Milan`s transfer targets are not limited to Gyokeres. The club is also considering other attackers such as Dusan Vlahovic, Aleksandar Mitrović, Mateo Retegui, Breel Embolo, Gonçalo Ramos, Emanuel Emegha, Alexander Sørloth, Vangelis Pavlidis, and Artem Dovbyk.
As the summer transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen whether Milan can secure their primary target or if they will turn to alternative options to strengthen their attacking lineup.
