AC Milan is subjecting Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface to an exceptionally comprehensive medical evaluation. The club has scheduled further tests for Saturday, August 23, as part of an unusually thorough examination process.
The Italian club has reached an agreement to acquire Boniface on loan for approximately €5 million, with an option to make the transfer permanent for an additional €25 million. The striker began his medical assessments on Friday, visiting both Milan`s club facilities and undergoing the required Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) examinations.
Following these initial tests, Boniface was sent to the Galeazzi Hospital in Milan for more in-depth medical checks. Reports suggest that Milan even recalled their trusted orthopedic surgeon from vacation specifically to examine Boniface. Despite these extensive evaluations, the club has deemed it necessary to conduct additional tests on Saturday morning before finalizing the transfer.
The club`s cautious approach may be attributed to Boniface`s injury history. Last season, he experienced a series of muscular issues that limited his appearances to just 27 competitive matches for Bayer Leverkusen, though he still managed to score 11 goals and provide two assists. Prior to that, Boniface underwent two surgeries for anterior cruciate ligament injuries in his knees, in March 2019 and November 2020.
