AC Milan concluded their Serie A campaign with a 2-0 victory over already-relegated Monza at the San Siro. However, the match was played in a tense atmosphere as thousands of Milan fans staged protests against the club`s management.
Around 5,000 supporters gathered outside Milan`s headquarters before the game to demand the resignation of the entire management team. Inside the stadium, ultras organized a human banner reading “Go Home” in the stands before walking out after 20 minutes to continue their protests outside.
On the pitch, Milan took control in the second half after a goalless opening period. Defender Matteo Gabbia broke the deadlock in the 64th minute, heading in from a Samuel Chukwueze corner. João Félix doubled the lead 10 minutes later with a well-struck free kick that beat the Monza goalkeeper.
Despite the win, the match was played in a surreal atmosphere due to the fan protests. Milan finish the season on a positive note results-wise, but clearly face major challenges in rebuilding trust with their passionate supporter base over the summer.
