AC Milan Sets Sights on FC Porto’s Alan Varela for Summer Transfer
According to recent reports from Italian media, AC Milan is showing interest in acquiring FC Porto midfielder Alan Varela during the upcoming summer transfer window. Despite the January transfer period still being active, the Rossoneri are already planning ahead for potential reinforcements in the off-season.
Milan’s management has identified the central midfield as an area requiring strengthening. Currently, Tijjani Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana are considered key players in Milan’s midfield setup. While Yunus Musah is also part of the squad, he has often been deployed on the right wing. Ismael Bennacer, another midfield option, has struggled with injuries and has yet to establish himself as a regular starter this season.
Milan’s Summer Midfield Targets: Varela and Ricci
In addition to Varela, Milan is also reportedly interested in Italian international Samuele Ricci. This interest persists despite Ricci recently signing a new contract with his current club. Milan coach Stefano Pioli, who previously worked with Varela at Porto, could leverage his Portuguese connections to facilitate a potential deal.
As the summer transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen whether Milan will be successful in securing either Varela or Ricci to bolster their midfield options for the 2024-25 season.
