According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan is ramping up efforts to secure KAA Gent`s left-back Archie Brown, aiming to avoid a costly bidding war with other interested clubs.
The Italian giants recently sold Theo Hernandez to Al-Hilal for a reported €25 million plus bonuses, simultaneously reducing their wage bill. Now, the club is in urgent need of a replacement, with Brown emerging as the primary target.
Romano reports that Milan has decided to focus their efforts on acquiring Brown, despite initial interest in several candidates for the position. The Rossoneri are keen to finalize the deal swiftly to outpace potential competition.
Brown`s Versatility Attracts Milan`s Interest
The English defender`s versatility is a key factor in Milan`s pursuit. Brown is capable of playing as a left-back, in a more advanced role, or even as a central defender. This flexibility could prove valuable for the Serie A club.
Other Italian clubs, including Lazio and Torino, have also shown interest in Brown, further motivating Milan to accelerate negotiations.
Gent acquired Brown from Lausanne-Sport in 2023 for €4 million, with his current contract extending until June 2027. In the recent season, Brown made 46 appearances across all competitions for the Belgian club, contributing three goals and six assists.
As Milan looks to quickly fill the void left by Hernandez, Brown`s potential arrival could signal an exciting new chapter for both the player and the club.
