AC Milan’s Defensive Boost and New Signing Update Ahead of Roma Clash
AC Milan has received a timely defensive boost as Matteo Gabbia rejoined full training on Tuesday, ahead of Wednesday’s Coppa Italia quarter-final against Roma. However, one of the club’s recent January acquisitions will not be available for the crucial match.
Gabbia, who was substituted at halftime during Milan’s 2-1 Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb due to a minor muscle issue, has made a swift recovery. This setback limited him to just five minutes of action in the recent Milan derby, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The defender’s return to full training suggests he could feature in the upcoming cup tie against Roma, providing a welcome reinforcement for Stefano Pioli’s squad.
Milan had a flurry of activity at the end of the January transfer window, securing the signatures of Santiago Gimenez, Joao Felix, Riccardo Sottil, and Warren Bondo on deadline day. While most of these new additions participated in Tuesday’s training session, along with earlier January signing Kyle Walker, one player was notably absent.
Warren Bondo, the deadline day acquisition from Monza, is currently nursing a minor muscle injury. The young midfielder is expected to be fit for selection by next week, missing out on the immediate opportunity to make his debut against Roma.
As Milan prepares for this crucial Coppa Italia encounter, the return of Gabbia provides a timely boost to their defensive options. However, they will have to wait a little longer to see their full complement of new signings in action together on the pitch.
