AC Milan’s Late Bid for Thilo Kehrer Revealed

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that AC Milan made a last-ditch effort to acquire AS Monaco`s Thilo Kehrer as the transfer window drew to a close. The Rossoneri were in search of a new center-back following Malick Thiaw`s departure to Newcastle United.

In the final hours before the deadline, Milan had been in talks with Liverpool regarding Joe Gomez. However, the Premier League club opted to retain the player. As an alternative, Milan secured the services of 19-year-old German prospect David Odogu from Wolfsburg for approximately €7 million plus bonuses.

Kehrer Among Milan`s Defensive Targets

It appears that Milan had other defensive options in mind. Romano claims that the club also attempted to sign Kehrer in the closing days of the summer transfer window. However, AS Monaco stood firm and managed to keep hold of the former Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham United player.

Kehrer, a German international with 28 caps for the senior team, is currently under contract with Monaco until June 2028. His experience and versatility made him an attractive target for Milan as they sought to strengthen their backline.

While the move for Kehrer did not materialize, it demonstrates Milan`s commitment to reinforcing their squad and their willingness to explore various options in the transfer market. As the season progresses, it remains to be seen whether the club will renew their interest in Kehrer or pursue other defensive targets in future transfer windows.
