AC Milan’s Options for Permanent Transfer of Joao Felix from Chelsea
Following Joao Felix’s impressive debut for AC Milan on loan from Chelsea, the Italian club is considering ways to secure the Portuguese star on a permanent basis. However, with no purchase option included in the initial loan deal, Milan will need to negotiate with Chelsea to make the transfer permanent.
According to reports, Chelsea paid €52 million for Felix last summer. By June 2025, his depreciated value is estimated to be around €41.6 million. This figure represents the minimum amount Chelsea would likely accept to avoid a financial loss on the player.
Milan have several potential options to pursue a permanent deal:
- Negotiate a straight transfer fee around the €41.6 million mark
- Propose a player exchange deal, potentially involving Fikayo Tomori returning to Chelsea
- Extend the loan for another season with an option to buy in 2026, when Felix’s value may decrease further to approximately €31.2 million
The club’s decision will likely depend on Felix’s performances for the remainder of the season, as well as Milan’s financial situation and priorities in the transfer market. Regardless of the approach, it’s clear that Milan are keen to retain the services of the talented 25-year-old beyond his initial loan spell.
