According to football agent Rafaela Pimenta, Serie A continues to be an attractive destination for many players. She revealed that her client, Santiago Gimenez, chose to join AC Milan primarily because of his desire to live in Italy.
Gimenez`s Italian Dream
Pimenta explained, “Serie A remains appealing due to its unique playing style and high quality of life. It`s a league that maintains a human touch in an increasingly business-driven world. Gimenez, for instance, had numerous offers but ultimately decided on Milan because he wanted to experience living in Italy.”
The Mexican international striker completed a permanent transfer to AC Milan from Feyenoord for €32 million during the 2025 winter transfer window. Since joining the Rossoneri, Gimenez has scored six goals in 19 appearances. He is contracted to stay at San Siro until 2029.
Italian Players in the Global Market
Addressing the perception of Italian players` marketability abroad, Pimenta stated, “It`s a misconception that there`s no interest in Italian players from foreign clubs. The truth is, Italians, much like Mexicans, often prefer to stay in their home country.”
Club World Cup`s Influence on Transfers
Pimenta also discussed the impact of the Club World Cup on transfer negotiations. “The tournament has caused the transfer market to start earlier than usual. Everyone is waiting to see if any standout players emerge, similar to what happens during the World Cup,” she noted.
Regarding the substantial prize money for participating clubs, Pimenta expects increased investments this summer. “While clubs are planning more strategically these days, passion and excitement still play crucial roles in football decisions,” she concluded.
