Al-Hilal Targets Marseille Manager De Zerbi as Potential Replacement
Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal is reportedly considering Olympique de Marseille’s Roberto De Zerbi as a potential replacement for outgoing manager Jorge Jesus at the end of the season. The Saudi Pro League side is closely monitoring De Zerbi’s situation at Marseille, where he is striving to secure a Champions League spot in a tumultuous Ligue 1 season.
De Zerbi’s inaugural season in France has been challenging, testing both his tactical acumen and emotional resilience. With four matches remaining, Marseille is still in contention for a Champions League berth, but there is little room for error.
Following a week-long training camp in Rome, De Zerbi and his team are set to face Stade Brestois on Sunday evening. A victory would allow Marseille to overtake Monaco and reclaim second place in the league standings.
During a recent press conference, De Zerbi expressed his commitment to Marseille’s cause: “I was aware of OM’s nature when I arrived, which is why I chose to come here. The supporters understand who is genuinely dedicated to the club and who is acting in bad faith.”
He added, “I focus on what I believe is best for my team at this moment, which is OM. My staff and I are working solely for the benefit of the club. I leave the controversies and falsehoods to others.”
As the season reaches its climax, De Zerbi remains concentrated on guiding Marseille to Champions League qualification, while Al-Hilal continues to evaluate potential managerial candidates for the upcoming season.
