Following AC Milan`s goalless draw against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium, coach Massimiliano Allegri expressed disappointment over his team`s inability to capitalize on scoring opportunities. The match marked Allegri`s return to Turin since leaving Juventus in 2024.
Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, Milan failed to break the deadlock. A notable miss came from American forward Christian Pulisic, who skied a penalty kick in the second half. Nevertheless, Milan maintained their unbeaten run since the season opener against Cremonese, showcasing resilient defensive performances as they pursue the Serie A title.
In his post-match interview, Allegri commented on the team`s performance: “We had a balanced first half, but our ball movement was too slow. As the game progressed, we created more chances, but lacked the ruthlessness to finish them off. While it`s positive that we kept a clean sheet, there are moments when you must seal the victory.”
Regarding Rafael Leao`s missed opportunities, Allegri stated: “He`s still regaining his rhythm after a 45-day absence. Leao possesses immense talent, but now he must learn to be decisive in crucial moments. That`s what will make him a game-changer.”
Reflecting on his emotional return to Turin, Allegri said: “It was moving to see many familiar faces who supported me for eight years. I`m grateful, but my focus is now on Milan and the work ahead of us. We`ll take this point, but we must learn to seize our chances when they come.”
The coach also praised Santiago Gimenez`s performance, highlighting his work rate and contribution to the team. Allegri remains optimistic about Milan`s prospects, emphasizing the need for clinical finishing in future matches as they continue their campaign for the Scudetto.
