Amine Gouiri from Olympique Marseille has been awarded the UNFP Player of the Month for February. The talented Algerian forward was selected as the winner from a shortlist of three, triumphing over Paris Saint-Germain’s prominent duo, Ousmane Dembélé and Achraf Hakimi.
The nominees for this prestigious monthly award are chosen by players within the French top division. Interestingly, despite an exceptional scoring record of nine goals and one assist throughout February, AS Monaco’s Mika Biereth was not among the nominees. He finished sixth in the voting, a result that has sparked debate considering his remarkable impact in Ligue 1 since joining.
Ultimately, following a vote by fans, Gouiri, who made his move to Marseille from Stade Rennais in the January transfer period, was declared the recipient of the award. The 25-year-old Algerian international has quickly become a key player for his new club. His February highlights included scoring two goals against AS Saint-Étienne and providing three assists. Dembélé secured second place in the voting, with Hakimi in third.
