Amorim Must Never Play This “Disastrous” Man Utd Player Again
Manchester United pulled off a remarkable comeback victory against Lyon in their Europa League quarter-final, scoring three goals in the final minutes to advance. However, the win was marred by some disappointing individual performances, particularly from substitute Luke Shaw.
The English left-back came on at halftime but struggled to make a positive impact. He conceded a penalty that put United in a precarious position and failed to provide any attacking threat, completing just one of four attempted crosses. Defensively, Shaw lost all of his ground duels and didn’t make a single tackle.
This poor showing earned Shaw a meager 3/10 rating from the Manchester Evening News. With his injury record and declining form, it’s becoming clear that manager Ruben Amorim needs to make the difficult decision to move on from Shaw in the upcoming transfer window.
While Shaw has been a loyal servant to the club, he no longer appears capable of performing at the level required for United to challenge for Premier League titles. Fresh blood is needed at left-back if the Red Devils are to return to the summit of English football.
Amorim would be wise to look for a younger, more dynamic option to replace Shaw this summer. The 29-year-old’s “disastrous” performance against Lyon should be the final straw, cementing his status as surplus to requirements at Old Trafford going forward.
