Amorim Should Consider Benching Struggling Man Utd Defender
Manchester United’s poor run of form continued with a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth before the holiday break. Set-pieces were a major issue for Ruben Amorim’s side, as they conceded from a free kick and gave away a penalty.
Despite dominating possession and creating more chances, United were unable to find the back of the net. Several players put in subpar performances, including defender Tyrell Malacia.
Malacia struggled defensively against Bournemouth, winning just one duel and losing possession seven times before being substituted at halftime. His clumsy foul led to Bournemouth’s opening goal from a free kick.
With a crucial Boxing Day match against Wolves coming up, Amorim may need to consider other options at left wing-back. Bringing in Leny Yoro and shifting Noussair Mazraoui wide is one possibility. Alternatively, using the attack-minded Alejandro Garnacho in that role could provide more offensive threat.
Given Malacia’s poor showing and the importance of the Wolves match, dropping the Dutch defender may be justified as United look to get back on track. Amorim has several alternatives at his disposal to freshen up the lineup for this must-win game.
