Ancelotti Analyzes Real Madrid’s Super Cup Loss to Barcelona
Real Madrid’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti shared his thoughts on the team’s 5-2 defeat against Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final.
“We must face the facts. Our defense was weak, allowing the opponent to score easily,” Ancelotti stated. “We performed poorly both as a team and individually, which is disappointing.”
When asked about the team’s performance after Barcelona’s red card, Ancelotti expressed his dissatisfaction with the entire match. “The game was poor from start to finish. Even with the numerical advantage, we couldn’t create opportunities. The entire match was disappointing.”
Responding to whether the defeat could have been worse without the red card, Ancelotti admitted, “I thought we might have a chance to comeback after the sending off. I didn’t consider other scenarios.”
Addressing potential tactical errors, Ancelotti emphasized the importance of solid defense in the game. “We defended poorly, and Barcelona deserved the win. They were simply better than us.”
This victory marks Barcelona’s 15th Spanish Super Cup title, maintaining their record as the most successful club in the competition’s history. Real Madrid follows closely with 13 trophies.
