Ander Herrera Joins Boca Juniors as New Player

Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera has officially signed with Argentine club Boca Juniors, leaving Athletic Bilbao behind. The player has agreed to a contract until the end of 2025, with an option for an additional year. This move makes Herrera the first Spanish player of the 21st century, and only the fourth in history, to don the iconic Boca jersey.

Upon arriving in Buenos Aires, Herrera received a superstar welcome. Joining Boca has been a long-time dream for the Biscayan player, and it’s now becoming a reality. “I’ve experienced it as a fan, and as a player, I’m told it gives you goosebumps,” Herrera commented on his arrival. The Spanish midfielder joins the Argentine club after terminating his contract with Athletic Bilbao.

Amidst the chaos at the airport, Herrera expressed his enthusiasm: “I’ve wanted to come here for a long time. I hope to adapt quickly, enjoy the experience, and contribute with my expertise.” He added, “I’ve been wanting to come here for years. It’s a giant club with a unique history and passion. My father, who worked here for a long time, often spoke to me about Boca and passed on his passion.”

Herrera’s South American adventure is now set to begin. He could potentially make his debut for Boca Juniors on January 26th in the opening match of the Argentine league against Argentinos Juniors.
