Armenian Defender Tiknizyan Linked with Potential Move to Girona
Reports suggest that Nair Tiknizyan, the Armenian national team defender currently playing for Lokomotiv Moscow, could be heading to Spanish club Girona. The La Liga side is reportedly searching for a replacement for Miguel Gutierrez, who is expected to leave the club this summer.
Gutierrez, a 23-year-old Spanish defender, may return to Real Madrid where he started his career, or potentially join Liverpool. Tiknizyan has emerged as one of the candidates to fill the void left by Gutierrez’s departure.
The Armenian defender has previously attracted interest from other Spanish clubs, including Sevilla and Leganes. In the current season, Tiknizyan has impressed with two goals and four assists in 27 appearances for Lokomotiv Moscow across all competitions. His contract with the Russian club runs until June 30, 2026.
For comparison, Gutierrez has scored two goals and provided six assists in 32 matches this season. Girona’s interest in Tiknizyan highlights the club’s proactive approach in securing a suitable replacement for their outgoing defender.
As the summer transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen whether Tiknizyan will make the move to Spain and continue his development in one of Europe’s top leagues.
