Arne Slot Praises PSG’s Intense Play

Despite securing a victory at Parc des Princes, Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, commended Paris Saint-Germain for their intense performance. He emphasized the need for Liverpool to elevate their intensity for the return leg of the Champions League Round of 16 at Anfield.

In the first leg, PSG put Liverpool under significant pressure at Parc des Princes, unleashing 27 shots, nine of which tested Alisson. Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Alisson, himself admitted that he delivered possibly his career-best performance to keep his team in the game.

After Alisson’s heroics, Liverpool managed to clinch a late win. Harvey Elliott, just moments after entering the pitch as a substitute, scored in the 87th minute, giving Liverpool a crucial one-goal advantage heading into the second leg at Anfield.

PSG Remains Confident Despite Defeat

Luis Enrique, PSG’s manager, felt the first-leg result was “unfair.” Echoing this sentiment, Arne Slot, speaking on Saturday, lauded PSG’s performance in the initial match. Slot stated, “PSG set a strong example with their intensity, particularly evident in their 4-0 halftime lead against Lille OSC and their subsequent game against us. The level of intensity they displayed against us was unprecedented for our team this season. Looking ahead to the second leg, we must match and exceed that intensity to progress to the next stage of the competition.”

Although Liverpool are favored to advance, PSG remains bullish about their qualification chances, expressing confidence in overturning the deficit at Anfield.
