Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, held a pre-match press conference before their crucial Champions League round of 16 second leg game against Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield. Leading 1-0 on aggregate, Slot addressed reports that PSG players were more impressed by Arsenal and Bayern Munich in this season’s Champions League.
According to reports following the first leg, PSG players were surprised by Liverpool’s approach and felt more confident about the return match at Anfield. In response to these reports, Arne Slot stated in a press conference:
“I’ve heard that some PSG players mentioned Arsenal and Bayern Munich played better against them. I believe this might be because PSG has improved over the past months, especially in their away games against Arsenal and Bayern.”
Slot added, “I watched those games, and PSG has indeed become a better, more changed team. Against Arsenal away, they played more defensively. Now, they are more aggressive, pressing high up the pitch and playing with more individual duels. It’s their opinion, and I can’t change how they feel, or even confirm if it’s true. However, I hope they might see things differently after Tuesday night’s game. I think we need to deliver our best performance of the season because we are facing the most complete opponent yet.”
