Arsenal and Berta Pursue High-Scoring Striker in £58m Deal

Arsenal is ramping up efforts to acquire a highly-rated striker during the upcoming transfer window. Sporting director Andrea Berta is at the forefront of negotiations, aiming to secure a deal for the sought-after forward.

The Gunners have struggled with their striking options this season, exacerbated by injury concerns. Neither Kai Havertz nor Gabriel Jesus appear to be long-term solutions as the team’s primary goalscorer. Bringing in an elite striker could significantly elevate Arsenal’s performance.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time. Recent reports suggest the 21-year-old Slovenian is open to a move to the Emirates Stadium at the season’s end. Despite signing a contract extension with his current club last year, there’s speculation that Leipzig may not stand in his way if he desires a new challenge in 2025 or 2026.

Berta Engages in Talks with ‘Exceptional’ Striker

According to recent reports, Berta has initiated discussions with Sesko regarding a potential move to Arsenal this summer. The north London club remains “very much in contention” for the player’s signature, despite missing out on him last year. Sesko is being considered alongside Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, with both seen as more attainable targets compared to Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

Valued at £58 million, Sesko stands out as an exciting prospect for Arsenal. He is widely regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young strikers. This season, he has netted 12 goals in the Bundesliga – double the tally of Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka in the Premier League. Additionally, Sesko has an impressive international record, scoring 16 times in 41 appearances for Slovenia.

Football talent scout Jacek Kulig has described Sesko as “exceptional” following his strong performances this year. While some may have concerns about his age, Sesko’s maturity and imposing 6’5″ frame suggest he could adapt well to the physicality of English football.

As Arsenal looks to bolster their attacking options, Sesko represents a potentially transformative signing who could provide the goalscoring prowess the team has been lacking.
