Arsenal Begin Negotiations for £63m “Powerhouse” Striker Outscoring Isak
Despite a disappointing domestic campaign, Arsenal still boast an impressive squad. However, their attack remains overly reliant on Bukayo Saka. To address this, the club are reportedly targeting a prolific new striker this summer.
According to reports from Portugal, Arsenal have initiated talks to sign Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres. The Gunners have reportedly requested a formal meeting with the player’s agent, who is said to be close to manager Mikel Arteta.
While Gyokeres has a £84m release clause, it’s believed he could be sold for between £54m-£63m. This represents significantly better value than Alexander Isak, who has also been linked with Arsenal but could cost up to £150m.
The Swedish international has been in sensational form this season, outperforming even Isak:
- Gyokeres: 40 goals, 10 assists in 41 appearances (1.21 goal involvements per game)
- Isak: 23 goals, 5 assists in 33 appearances (0.84 goal involvements per game)
Additionally, Gyokeres has a much cleaner injury record, having missed just 5 games in his career compared to Isak’s 67.
While both strikers would improve Arsenal’s attack, Gyokeres’ exceptional goalscoring rate, lower price tag, and durability make him the more attractive option for the Gunners this summer.
