Arsenal Could Sign Premier League Striker Similar to Isak
Arsenal have been searching for a new striker for months, with Alexander Isak of Newcastle linked as a top target. However, Isak’s reported £150 million price tag may be out of reach for the Gunners.
Instead, Arsenal could turn their attention to Brentford forward Yoane Wissa as a more affordable option. The 28-year-old Congolese international has impressed in the Premier League this season, with stats that compare favorably to both Isak and Arsenal’s current striker Kai Havertz.
While Isak has outscored Wissa with 17 league goals to 11, Wissa matches or exceeds the Newcastle man in several key areas:
- 48% shot-on-target accuracy (same as Isak, better than Havertz’s 40%)
- 0.6 goals per shot on target (better than Isak’s 0.5 and Havertz’s 0.4)
- 78% pass accuracy (better than Isak’s 74% and Havertz’s 77%)
- 47% aerial duels won (better than Isak’s 33% and Havertz’s 46%)
Wissa has been described as “one of the best strikers in the Premier League” by Sky Sports. His clinical finishing and all-around play could provide the goal threat Arsenal need, at a fraction of Isak’s cost.
While not a high-profile name, Wissa has proven he can be a deadly Premier League striker. Surrounded by Arsenal’s creative talents, he could take his game to the next level and solve the Gunners’ striking issues this season.
