Arsenal Discovers Trent Alexander-Arnold-esque Talent in “Fearless” Hale End Graduate
Arsenal has long been renowned for developing exceptional young talent through their academy. The Gunners’ youth system has produced numerous Premier League stars over the years, from Ashley Cole and Tony Adams to more recent graduates like Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.
Now, it appears Arsenal may have unearthed another potential superstar in the mold of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold. Myles Lewis-Skelly, a versatile academy product, has been impressing at full-back for the first team this season despite originally coming through as a midfielder.
There are several parallels between Lewis-Skelly and Alexander-Arnold that make the comparison intriguing. Both came up through big Premier League academies and represent England internationally. They’re also local lads playing for their boyhood clubs, with Lewis-Skelly hailing from Islington.
Most significantly, Lewis-Skelly has thrived since being converted to full-back, mirroring Alexander-Arnold’s positional shift. While not yet the finished defensive article, the Arsenal youngster offers tremendous attacking qualities with his dribbling ability and precise left foot.
Like Alexander-Arnold, there’s potential for Lewis-Skelly to eventually move into midfield to maximize his creative talents. For now, he’s establishing himself as an exciting attacking full-back option for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
While it’s premature to directly compare Lewis-Skelly to the accomplished Alexander-Arnold, the early signs suggest Arsenal may have found a similarly impactful homegrown talent capable of redefining the full-back position. The “fearless” Lewis-Skelly appears to have an extremely bright future ahead at the Emirates Stadium.
