Arsenal in talks to sign £80m “monster” who could revive Odegaard
Arsenal have endured a disappointing season so far, with their Premier League title hopes fading due to injuries and poor form. Captain Martin Odegaard has particularly struggled since returning from injury, failing to dominate games as he did last season.
However, reports suggest Arsenal are targeting a striker who could help get Odegaard back to his best – Wolves forward Matheus Cunha.
Arsenal target Premier League star
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Arsenal are holding informal talks with representatives of Cunha, who is yet to sign a new contract at Wolves. However, Wolves would demand at least £80 million to sell the Brazilian this month.
Cunha has been in excellent form this season, scoring 10 goals and providing 4 assists in just 22 appearances. His goal involvement rate of one every 122 minutes is significantly better than Arsenal’s current striker Kai Havertz.
Why Cunha would benefit Odegaard
There are two key reasons Cunha could help revive Odegaard’s form:
- His clinical finishing would convert more of the chances Odegaard creates
- His ability to play in midfield would allow Odegaard to be rested when needed
While £80 million is a huge fee, Cunha’s goalscoring prowess and versatility make him an ideal addition to Arsenal’s squad. His arrival could be crucial in getting the best out of captain Odegaard once again.
