Arsenal Legend Laments Departure of “Quality” Young Striker

Former Arsenal star Ian Wright has expressed regret over the club’s decision to sell promising young striker Mika Biereth, stating that the 22-year-old should be part of Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad given the Gunners’ current injury crisis in attack.

Arsenal has been grappling with a shortage of forwards due to long-term injuries to key players like Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, and Bukayo Saka. This has forced Arteta to improvise, even deploying midfielder Mikel Merino as an emergency striker.

Biereth, who Arsenal sold for just £4 million, has been enjoying a breakout season. The Danish forward has scored an impressive 25 goals in 37 appearances across spells at Sturm Graz and Monaco. His performances earned him a £12.5 million move to Monaco, where he has already notched three hat-tricks.

Wright praised Biereth’s goal-scoring instincts and rapid adaptation to new environments. “His obsession with scoring goals is evident. He doesn’t care how they go in, he just wants to score. That will always drive and motivate him,” Wright said in an interview.

The Arsenal legend added, “If I’m honest, Mika should’ve been in and around the first team at the moment. It’s disappointing for Arsenal, but on a human level, I’m delighted for him.”

As Biereth continues to impress, his value is likely to increase significantly, potentially making Arsenal’s decision to let him go for such a modest fee look increasingly questionable. Given their current attacking woes, Arteta could certainly use a player of Biereth’s caliber in his squad right now.
