Arsenal Makes Inquiries About £63m Striker Benjamin Sesko
Arsenal has reportedly reached out to RB Leipzig regarding the potential signing of striker Benjamin Sesko. The Premier League club is exploring options to strengthen their attack following injuries to key players Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal has made contact with Leipzig about Sesko in the past two weeks. However, the German club is reluctant to part with their star forward mid-season.
“Arsenal has had some discussions about Sesko recently,” Romano stated. “But I’m told Leipzig is adamant about keeping him until the end of the season. It would take an extraordinary financial offer to convince them to sell in January.”
The 21-year-old Slovenian has been in excellent form this season, scoring 14 goals across all competitions. He signed a contract extension with Leipzig last summer that reportedly includes a £63 million release clause.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the club is active in the transfer market for a new striker. Other reported targets include Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic, Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres, and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha.
While a January move for Sesko appears challenging, Arsenal may be laying the groundwork for a summer transfer. The striker has a “gentleman’s agreement” allowing him to leave Leipzig either this year or in 2026.
With their title hopes potentially impacted by attacking injuries, Arsenal seems determined to add firepower this month. However, they may need to look at more attainable short-term options if Leipzig maintains their stance on Sesko.
