Arsenal Making Late Push to Sign £65m Striker Benjamin Šeško
With the January transfer window nearing its end, Arsenal have yet to make any signings. However, the club are reportedly making a strong push to bring in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško before the deadline.
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Arsenal maintain serious interest in the 21-year-old Slovenian international and are now actively trying to complete a deal this month. The Gunners are said to value Šeško at around £65 million and have asked Leipzig to name their price.
While the exact asking price is unknown, there is reportedly a “gentleman’s agreement” that offers around €70 million (£59m) would be seriously considered by Leipzig. This suggests a deal could potentially be struck if Arsenal are willing to meet that valuation.
Šeško has been in excellent form this season, scoring 14 goals and providing 3 assists in just 26 appearances across all competitions. His goal involvement rate of one every 109 minutes stands out as particularly impressive for a young striker.
At just 21 years old, Šeško already possesses elite goalscoring ability while still having significant room for development. His combination of current production and long-term potential make him an extremely appealing target for Arsenal.
While Wolverhampton’s Matheus Cunha has also been linked with Arsenal recently, Šeško profiles as the superior option. Not only is he outperforming Cunha statistically this season, but at 21 he has much more time to grow and improve compared to the 24-year-old Brazilian.
If Arsenal can complete a deal for Šeško before the transfer deadline, it would represent a major coup and significantly bolster their attacking options for the second half of the season and beyond. The club appear to be making a concerted late effort to bring in the Slovenian star.
