Arsenal Preparing Summer Move for “Swift” Striker Following £65m Disclosure
While Arsenal opted not to bring in a new forward during the January transfer window, reports suggest the club is already making preparations for a major signing this summer.
With Gabriel Jesus sidelined for the remainder of the season, Mikel Arteta currently has limited options up front. The lack of a clinical striker was evident in Arsenal’s recent 2-0 Carabao Cup semifinal loss to Newcastle.
Although Bukayo Saka is expected to return from injury in March, providing a boost to Arsenal’s attack, Arteta is still keen to strengthen his striking options for next season.
While Newcastle’s Alexander Isak has been mentioned as a top target, a deal for the Swedish forward would likely be extremely difficult and expensive. Instead, Arsenal appear to be focusing their efforts on RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko as a more attainable option.
According to reports, Arsenal are already working on a deal to bring the 21-year-old Slovenian to the Emirates this summer. Sesko’s contract includes a £65 million release clause, and he is said to be open to a move to the Premier League.
The young striker has already netted 14 goals across all competitions this season and is known for his pace, with one source describing him as “extremely quick.” If Arsenal can secure his signature, Sesko could provide the clinical finishing touch they have been lacking up front.
With plans reportedly in motion behind the scenes, Arsenal fans can look forward to what could be an exciting summer of transfer activity as the club aims to bolster their attacking options.
