Arsenal Set Sights on Barcelona’s £50m Star as Agent Visits England
Arsenal are increasingly interested in signing a Barcelona player during the January transfer window. The player’s agent has traveled to England this week to explore opportunities in the Premier League, including potential interest from Arsenal.
With Bukayo Saka sidelined due to a hamstring injury, possibly until March, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is urgently seeking reinforcements to maintain the club’s Premier League title challenge. The Gunners are determined to end their 21-year wait for a domestic championship.
Reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani could be offered to Arsenal on loan, as the French international struggles to establish himself under Luis Enrique at PSG since his move from Eintracht Frankfurt.
However, Arsenal’s primary target appears to be Barcelona’s Dani Olmo. The Spanish international, who joined Barcelona for around £50 million last summer, has caught the attention of Arsenal’s interim sporting director Jason Ayto. Olmo has impressed with six goals and an assist in 15 appearances for Barcelona this season.
Sky Sports reports that Arsenal are in “positive contact” with Olmo’s representatives ahead of a potential move. The Daily Mail has corroborated Arsenal’s interest, revealing that Olmo’s chief agent, Andy Bara, visited England this week and attended Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with Everton at the Etihad Stadium.
While Bara claims his visit was for a holiday, he is actively exploring transfer options for his client. The Daily Mail names Arsenal as a potential destination for Olmo, along with Manchester United and Manchester City.
Arsenal are eager to determine if Olmo will be available in January, as Barcelona struggles with financial issues that may force them to offload players. The North London club sees an opportunity to acquire the talented 26-year-old winger as they look to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.
