Arsenal Submits Offer for £26m Forward Drawing Comparisons to Bernardo Silva

Arsenal has reportedly made a bid for River Plate’s highly-rated 18-year-old winger Ian Subiabre, who has drawn comparisons to Manchester City star Bernardo Silva. However, the player and his family have decided he should remain at River Plate for now to continue his development.

New Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is looking to strengthen the club’s attacking options this summer. Subiabre has caught the eye of Arsenal scouts, who view him as an exciting prospect from South America. The club has had success in the past signing young Brazilian talent Gabriel Martinelli for just £6 million.

Football talent scout Jacek Kulig has described Subiabre as a “mobile” and “unpredictable” player with excellent dribbling skills, similar to Silva. River Plate will not sell the teenager for less than his £26 million release clause.

While Arsenal have submitted an offer, Subiabre’s family have informed River Plate of their desire for him to sign a contract extension. Though a “difficult” decision, they feel it’s best for his development to remain in Argentina for now.

This comes as a disappointment for Berta and Arsenal, who are aiming to bolster their attacking options while adhering to financial regulations. The club is also pursuing other targets like Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, though his wage demands could prove problematic.

As Arsenal continue their search for attacking reinforcements, they’ll need to look at alternatives to Subiabre for the immediate future. However, the young Argentine remains an intriguing long-term prospect to monitor.
