Arsenal Target £159k-per-week Striker Upgrade “Better than Haaland”
Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as a potential January signing to boost their attacking options. The 25-year-old Galatasaray forward, on loan from Napoli, is seen as an upgrade over current options Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.
According to reports, Osimhen has a £63 million release clause in his contract. Arsenal are said to be considering activating this to bring in the prolific striker mid-season. However, they face competition from Manchester United and Chelsea for his signature.
Osimhen has been in excellent form this season, scoring 12 goals in 15 appearances across all competitions. This continues his impressive record from last season, where he netted 31 goals in 39 games to help Napoli win the Serie A title.
Statistical comparisons show Osimhen significantly outperforming Havertz in key attacking metrics. The Nigerian averaged 0.9 non-penalty goals and 1.0 goals inside the box per 90 minutes last season. In contrast, Havertz has averaged 0.5 for both metrics in the Premier League this campaign.
While £63 million represents a substantial January outlay, Osimhen’s goalscoring prowess could provide the clinical edge Arsenal have been lacking. His ability to find the net consistently, especially inside the box, addresses a key need in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Agent Andrea D’Amico has even described Osimhen as “better than Haaland”, highlighting the striker’s world-class potential. If Arsenal can secure his signature, it could give them the firepower needed to challenge Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.
