Arsenal Target £55m Winger Compared to Saka and Salah
Arsenal are reportedly planning to open talks to sign Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman, who has been likened to Bukayo Saka and Mohamed Salah. The Nigerian international has impressed in Serie A this season, scoring 18 goals and providing 7 assists in 37 appearances.
According to reports, Arsenal are one of several top clubs interested in Lookman, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle. Barcelona and Juventus have also made contact regarding the 26-year-old.
Atalanta are said to value Lookman at around €65 million (£55m). While this represents a significant outlay, his performances suggest he could be worth the investment. Lookman was nominated for the Ballon d’Or in 2024 after what broadcaster Maximiliano Bretos called a “monster year”.
Statistical analysis shows Lookman compares favorably to both Saka and Salah across key metrics like shots, passing accuracy, and ball carries per 90 minutes. His goal involvement rate of one every 106 minutes this season is particularly impressive.
While competition for his signature will be fierce, Lookman’s attacking output and positional versatility make him an appealing target as Arsenal look to close the gap on Liverpool next season. His ability to play across the front line could provide valuable depth and quality to the Gunners’ attack.
Signing a player of Lookman’s caliber would be a statement of intent from Arsenal as they aim to challenge for the Premier League title. However, they will need to move quickly to beat out rival suitors for the in-demand forward.
