Arsenal targets “incredibly talented” striker as potential bargain, June 10th deadline rumored
Arsenal executives reportedly view a highly prolific striker as a potential bargain signing this summer. New director Andrea Berta is said to be considering moving quickly to secure a deal for a center-forward, possibly before June 10th.
Berta’s appointment is significant for manager Mikel Arteta, with reports indicating the Italian is already taking action. He has reportedly held talks with representatives of several players, including Nico Williams, while also planning to strengthen Arsenal’s goalkeeping, defensive, midfield and attacking options.
However, signing a top-class striker remains the priority for most Arsenal supporters. Long-term injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have left Arteta with limited options up front. Even before this injury crisis, adding a clinical finisher was seen as the missing piece in Arteta’s squad.
While Newcastle’s Alexander Isak is reportedly a dream target, his £150 million price tag makes a move unlikely. RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, with a £60 million release clause, is viewed as more attainable. However, Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has emerged as another intriguing option.
Reports suggest Gyokeres prefers Arsenal over Manchester United, and Berta is expected to open transfer talks soon. Arsenal reportedly sees Gyokeres as excellent value at a rumored £70 million price. The club may look to complete a deal during an early transfer window from June 1st to June 10th.
Gyokeres has been in phenomenal scoring form in Portugal’s Primeira Liga. One pundit described him as “big and strong” with “ridiculously good” finishing ability, potentially making him an exciting signing for the Gunners as they look to bolster their attack for next season.
