Arteta faces new Arsenal transfer setback after Ornstein update

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has encountered another obstacle in his efforts to strengthen the squad before the January transfer window closes. According to reliable journalist David Ornstein, a promising transfer target has decided against joining the Gunners this month.

Earlier in January, Arteta emphasized Arsenal’s urgent need for attacking reinforcements due to injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka. The club was actively exploring options in the transfer market to bolster their forward line.

However, with just days remaining in the window, Arsenal have yet to secure any outfield signings. Their £60 million bid for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins was rejected, forcing the club to consider alternatives.

While Arsenal have held internal discussions about Brighton forward Evan Ferguson as a potential option, West Ham are reportedly in ongoing talks to sign the player.

Now, in another setback, Norwegian midfielder Sverre Nypan has opted to remain at Rosenborg until the summer, despite Arsenal’s advanced negotiations to sign the talented teenager. Nypan, who scored 8 goals and provided 10 assists last season, could have been acquired for just £10 million.

Arteta insists the club is working diligently behind the scenes to find solutions before the deadline, but time is running out for Arsenal to add the attacking firepower they desperately seek this month.
