AS Monaco aims for victory against Aston Villa in crucial Champions League match
AS Monaco has the opportunity to secure their place in the next round of the UEFA Champions League with a draw against Aston Villa at the Stade Louis II on Tuesday. However, the Principality club has no intention of playing for a mere point.
In a press conference, Monaco’s coach Adi Hütter humorously stated, “We’re not an Italian team,” emphasizing their commitment to an offensive style of play. He added, “Our DNA is to win matches. It wouldn’t make sense to aim for a draw.”
Despite their determination to play positively, Monaco acknowledges the challenge ahead. Both Hütter and player Breel Embolo expressed little surprise at Aston Villa’s strong performance in this season’s Champions League.
Hütter commented on Villa’s success, saying, “I’m only slightly surprised they’re in the top eight, but I expected them to reach the knockout stage. They’re very strong and prove it weekly in the Premier League.”
Embolo echoed this sentiment, noting Villa’s consistent top-tier performance in recent years and praising their quality players and coaching.
As Monaco prepares for this crucial match, they remain focused on their attacking philosophy, aiming to secure qualification through victory rather than settling for a draw.
