AS Monaco Coach Worried About Golovin’s Persistent Ankle Problem
AS Monaco’s manager Adi Hütter has raised concerns about midfielder Aleksandr Golovin’s recurring ankle problem. The 28-year-old Russian international was substituted at halftime during Monaco’s recent 4-2 victory against AJ Auxerre.
Initially thought to be a tactical change, Hütter later revealed in a press conference that Golovin’s substitution was due to ankle pain. The coach stated, “Golovin began experiencing discomfort in his ankle. It was evident he was limping, so it didn’t make sense to keep him on for the second half. He can’t perform at his best when dealing with this pain.”
Hütter also disclosed that Golovin has been struggling with this issue for approximately two months. “We need to find an effective solution for Golovin because I want to protect him as well. It’s challenging to compete at this level when you’re in pain,” the manager explained.
This ongoing injury concern had not been publicly disclosed before Saturday’s match. The situation raises questions about Golovin’s fitness and availability for upcoming fixtures, as well as the potential impact on AS Monaco’s performance in the league.
