AS Monaco Explores Potential Move for Georginio Wijnaldum
AS Monaco has reportedly shown interest in former Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum. The 34-year-old Dutch player, who recently returned to the Netherlands national team for EURO 2024, is currently playing for Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia after leaving PSG in 2023.
The Monégasque club is actively seeking an experienced midfielder to bolster their squad and provide support for Denis Zakaria. The Swiss international has been a key player for Monaco when fit, but has struggled with injuries this season, missing significant playing time.
In addition to Wijnaldum, Monaco has explored other options in the Premier League. They initially approached West Ham for Edson Alvarez, but their loan offer was rejected. Recent reports also suggest that the club is considering Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi as another potential target.
Monaco’s interest in Wijnaldum and other experienced midfielders demonstrates their commitment to strengthening their squad as they aim to compete at the highest level in both domestic and European competitions.
