AS Monaco’s Young Striker George Ilenikhena Resumes Training After Injury
Eighteen-year-old AS Monaco forward George Ilenikhena has rejoined the first-team training sessions following a month-long absence due to an adductor injury. The young striker’s last appearance on the pitch was during the Trophée des Champions match against Paris Saint-Germain in early January.
Ilenikhena’s return to training aligns with the mid to late February timeline initially projected by AS Monaco’s head coach, Adi Hütter. During the striker’s absence, the club bolstered their attacking options by bringing in Mika Biereth, a move partially motivated by Folarin Balogun’s shoulder injury. Balogun, the USMNT forward, is expected to make his comeback in March or April.
The former Royal Antwerp player has been participating in training sessions since Tuesday. Joining him is recent signing Moatsem Al-Musrati, a Libyan midfielder acquired from Besiktas on the final day of the transfer window. Al-Musrati was observed training with his new teammates during Wednesday’s session at La Turbie.
These developments signal positive progress for AS Monaco as they look to strengthen their squad and maintain competitiveness in the remainder of the season.
