Aston Villa Defender Axel Disasi Attracting Interest from Premier League Rivals

Aston Villa has been alerted to the interest from several Premier League competitors in one of their players, with a potential transfer move in the summer window, according to recent reports.

Emery Pleased with Brentford Victory

Following a heavy 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in their previous Premier League match, Aston Villa bounced back with a 1-0 victory against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium. Ollie Watkins’ goal in the second half secured the win for Unai Emery’s team, lifting them to seventh place in the league standings.

In post-match comments, Emery expressed his satisfaction with his team’s performance, specifically highlighting goalkeeper Robin Olsen, who replaced the injured Emi Martinez, and the defensive line.

“[Olsen] performed fantastically today, as did the entire defense,” said Emery. “These three points boost our confidence and belief in the Premier League as we strive to continue competing for a European spot.”

Emery also commended defender Axel Disasi, on loan from Chelsea, for his performance at right-back, which earned him the Man of the Match award.

“He played well as a centre-back against Liverpool. Playing as a right full-back against Palace and Brugge, he steadily improved and gained confidence. Today, I believe he took another step forward, performing even better and with greater assurance.”

Villa Faces Competition for Disasi from English Clubs

Disasi has been in the starting lineup for five of the six matches he has been eligible for since joining Villa on loan from Chelsea in February, consistently delivering solid defensive displays. Praised as a ‘monster’ by Aston Villa supporters and ‘brilliant’ by Jamie Carragher, reports from France indicate Villa’s desire to secure the Frenchman on a permanent deal after his loan spell concludes.

However, reports from Foot Mercato suggest that Aston Villa will encounter significant competition from other Premier League teams if they wish to permanently sign Disasi. These clubs have also been impressed by his contributions for Villa. While the specific interested clubs remain unnamed, Aston Villa is warned to be ‘wary’ of the domestic interest.

Disasi himself has hinted at his willingness to remain at Villa Park beyond June, stating, “They brought me here to contribute, and I am ready. Currently, I am focused on playing for these six months, but after that, we will see. The future is open.”

In other Aston Villa transfer news, there are suggestions that Villa might also pursue a permanent deal for Marco Asensio, who has made a positive impression since joining on loan from Paris Saint-German.

‘I anticipate they will push to sign him. Emery has long admired him,’ commented former Aston Villa CEO Keith Wyness regarding Asensio in a recent interview. ‘He is talented and appears to fit the number ten role Emery envisions for him. I believe they will finalize the deal.’
