Aston Villa Eyes Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma in Surprise Transfer Move

According to recent reports, Aston Villa is considering a surprising transfer for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma. Manager Unai Emery is said to be an admirer of the 28-year-old Malian international.

As Villa’s summer transfer plans take shape, the club is looking to strengthen multiple positions. While attacking reinforcements like Ademola Lookman and Noni Madueke are being considered, Emery is also keen on bolstering his midfield options.

Tottenham appears willing to part ways with Bissouma, who has struggled for consistency this season. The North London club is reportedly open to offers around £35 million for the midfielder.

Emery believes he can revitalize Bissouma’s career at Villa Park. The Spanish manager sees potential for the former Brighton player to compete for a starting spot alongside Boubacar Kamara, Youri Tielemans, and Amadou Onana.

Despite limited playing time this season, Bissouma’s statistics remain impressive. He ranks in the 90th percentile for tackles among midfielders and boasts a 92nd percentile pass completion rate of 89.8%.

While Bissouma’s all-around abilities make him an attractive target, Villa may seek to negotiate a lower fee than the reported £35 million. The player’s contract runs until 2026, and Tottenham paid only £25 million for him in 2022.

As Aston Villa pushes for European qualification, Bissouma could provide valuable depth and competition in midfield. However, the club will need to weigh the potential benefits against the cost of the transfer.
