Aston Villa Given Option to Sign “Quick” Striker Following Duran Transfer

With Jhon Duran departing for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, Aston Villa have reportedly been presented with an opportunity to bring in an immediate replacement – one whose own move was impacted by Duran’s transfer.

Aston Villa are a team to watch closely as the transfer window nears its end. The club suddenly has significant funds available after Al-Nassr’s reported €77 million (£64m) acquisition of Duran from Villa. This has quickly led to several potential reinforcements being linked with a move to Villa Park.

It’s now public knowledge that Aston Villa are interested in both Chelsea’s Joao Felix and Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Asensio before the deadline. Sporting director Monchi confirmed this in a recent interview, though he emphasized the challenges involved in both potential deals.

However, these exciting targets aren’t the only players who could make a late move to the Midlands. According to reports, Aston Villa have now been offered the chance to sign Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen. The Nigerian striker had been a target for Al-Nassr before they opted for Duran instead, opening up this potential opportunity for Villa.

At 24 years old, Boniface could serve as an instant replacement for Duran and bolster Unai Emery’s attacking options. As part of Leverkusen’s undefeated Bundesliga-winning side last season under Xabi Alonso, Boniface has experience performing at a high level and could help Villa push for consecutive top-four finishes.

Despite limited playing time this season, Boniface has remained clinical – outperforming his expected goals with 6 goals in just 658 minutes of action. Leverkusen manager Alonso has praised Boniface’s attributes, calling him “powerful, quick” and a “real problem for opposition defenses.”

With the transfer deadline rapidly approaching, Aston Villa will need to act quickly if they wish to pursue this unexpected opportunity to sign the talented Nigerian striker.
