Aston Villa in Race to Sign Fikayo Tomori Following Carlos Departure
Aston Villa are reportedly competing with Newcastle United to acquire AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori. This potential move comes after Diego Carlos completed his transfer to Fenerbahce earlier this month, leaving Villa in need of defensive reinforcement.
While Loic Bade from Sevilla remains Villa’s primary target, with ongoing negotiations, Tomori has emerged as an appealing alternative. The 27-year-old English center-back could make his return to Premier League football after departing Chelsea for Milan in 2022.
Despite initially impressing at Milan, Tomori has recently found himself lower in the pecking order, potentially paving the way for a San Siro exit. His experience and development since leaving Chelsea make him an attractive option for Villa manager Unai Emery.
Legendary defender Franco Baresi previously praised Tomori’s abilities, highlighting his skill and physical attributes. A move to Villa Park could provide Tomori with an opportunity to showcase his growth and potentially help Villa in their pursuit of Champions League qualification.
If successful, this transfer could see Tomori playing a key role in elevating Aston Villa above his former club Chelsea in the league standings. It would also mark a significant return to English football for the defender, who left Stamford Bridge seeking more playing time and development opportunities abroad.
