Aston Villa Stepping Up Pursuit of Chelsea’s Axel Disasi
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa are ramping up their efforts to secure the signature of Chelsea defender Axel Disasi before the transfer window closes. The club is “insisting” on completing a deal for the player, who is described as “exceptional” and currently earns £80,000 per week.
Villa manager Unai Emery is looking to strengthen his squad after a somewhat disappointing Premier League campaign so far. The increased fixture load from European competition may be partly to blame, highlighting the need for additional depth.
While Villa are also pursuing attacking reinforcements, with moves for Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio reportedly in advanced stages, bolstering the defense remains a priority. The club has struggled defensively of late, managing just one clean sheet in their last 13 matches across all competitions.
Disasi, a versatile 26-year-old French defender, has found playing time limited at Chelsea this season. However, his previous performances and ability to play multiple positions make him an attractive target. He has impressed when given opportunities, even contributing three goals in six Conference League appearances as a right-back.
Though Tottenham Hotspur have also expressed interest in Disasi, reports suggest the player would prefer a move to Villa Park. With negotiations ongoing, Villa fans will be hoping to see this “exceptional” defender arrive to shore up their backline before the transfer deadline.
