Aston Villa Targets Nice’s Evann Guessand to Fill Striker Vacancy

Aston Villa has set its sights on Nice forward Evann Guessand as a potential replacement for the recently departed Jhon Duran. The 23-year-old French striker has caught the attention of Unai Emery’s team with his impressive form in the 2024-25 season.

Following the sale of Jhon Duran to Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr for €76 million, Aston Villa is actively seeking a new striker to bolster their attacking options. Guessand has emerged as a prime candidate, having netted nine goals and provided six assists in Ligue 1 this season.

The Villa shortlist for potential striker signings also includes high-profile names such as Marcus Rashford from Manchester United and João Félix from Chelsea. Additionally, Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Asensio is reportedly on their radar.

While Rashford and Félix may present more cost-effective options, the acquisition of Guessand could hinge on the future of current Villa striker Ollie Watkins, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal. With the winter transfer window closing on Monday, Aston Villa will need to act swiftly to secure their preferred target.

Guessand’s recent form, including three goals since the start of the year, has made him an attractive prospect for the Premier League side. His potential move to Villa Park could provide the young French forward with an opportunity to test his skills in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
